The Internet is filled with information, a lot of information! But is everything you read on the Internet true? The Internet gives everyone the ability to share their opinions; even you can create a blog and reach out the world. But is there anyone who sees if what you write is true or not? Unfortunately, there is no one other than your viewers, who might be way too busy to leave a comment.
In this post, I will share some advice with you that can help you identify potentially fake news.
Who is the author?
Ads, propaganda, etc. usually don't mention the author while blog posts, news articles, etc. do mention authors. Don't trust news sources which don't mention authors and see the bio of the author to confirm.
Sources?
Every authentic article mentions sources (which doesn't include other articles written by the same author). If you recognize one of the sources as a famous or trusted publisher, the article in question might be correct.
Strong emotions!
Propaganda, in particular, is written in a way that fires up the reader's emotions. The next time an article makes you feel strongly, consider its trustability.
What's next?
Not all articles, which don't level up with the above standards, might be fake. Nor the articles which do follow these standards might be correct. What is important for you is to do some research before you base your next debate over what you read last night.
